Technology and the Shifting Architecture of Occupational Skills

We develop a measurement framework from job postings in 2010 and 2018, constructing aligned skill spaces for 514 occupations covering over 75% of U.S. employment. Two geometric dimensions reveal three distinct processes: cognitive distance, scaffolded learning, and simplification. The qualitative nature of skill change determines worker outcomes, not magnitude alone.

From Posting to Prediction: Building Validated Workforce Analytics

We develop a methodology using internal job postings and HCM data to measure employee skill fit. Validating against 1,034 internal hiring decisions, we find it robustly predicts hiring: applicants with higher skill fit are over twice as likely to be selected for the same role.
